Emerton hits Ticknall again and wins prize
Two of Emerton's three centuries in his first season in the Derbyshire County League have come in the Division 3S matches against them and this week's, an innings of 138, wins Emerton the Batsman of the Week award and a £15 voucher from sponsors Owzat Cricket, the South Normanton-based equipment suppliers.
Emerton has now passed 1,000 league and cup runs for his team, who sit well clear at the top of the division. His previous best score was 133 against Ticknall in May.
Ticknall's consolation was that they avoided defeat in both matches.
The Bowler of the Week is Gordon Brake of Trentside thirds in Division 7S.
He took 7-12 to skittle Melbourne seconds for 76 and give his side a 121-run win.
THERE was not too much movement at the top of the Derby Mortgage Advisors Premier League Player of the Year standings.
But Anthony Woolley's vital 61 in Alvaston & Boulton's nailbiting one-wicket win over Spondon on Saturday earned him three points to join Ockbrook's Johnny Owen in joint second place, still 10 points behind runaway leader Matt Lineker.
Lineker's 63 against Ticknall did not earn him any more points in the standings but Luke Harvey's 70 for Ticknall in the same game was judged the best effort and his three points brings him up alongside opening partner Paul Borrington and five others on nine points.
Alvaston's Chris McIlroy and Spondon's Warren Bell also moved to nine with points gained in Saturday's game, while Dunstall's Jamie Benstead moves into contention on eight points after a match-winning century for his side against Chesterfield on Saturday.
LEADERS: 21 Matt Lineker (Ockbrook).
11 Johnny Owen (Ockbrook), Anthony Woolley (A&B)
10 Kevin Leatherday (Ilkeston), Joe Ashdown (Spondon).
9 Will Challoner (Alfreton), Ross Whiteley (Chesterfield), Matt Gouldstone (Dunstall), Paul Borrington (Ticknall), Luke Harvey (Ticknall), Chris McIlroy (A&B), Warren Bell (Spondon).
8 Ahmed Amla (Lullington), Jamie Benstead (Dunstall).
