“It was 1979 actually, Steve. I was at the match and everyone felt a win was vital to stay up. We also drew 2-2 against other strugglers, Stoke, in the previous match. Biley struck up quite a decent partnership with Swindlehurst but never seemed to get many goals away from home. He came from Cambridge who didn't want to sell him and when we played them the next season in what is now the Championship, he was marked out of the game as we lost 3-0 to Cambridge both at home and away. Such fun!”

“I remember a game against Man Utd at the Baseball Ground, when Gordon McQueen was the centre back and Biley was making a typical nuisance of himself.....the ball went up to the other end of the field, and the next thing we knew Biley was crumpled on the floor. On Match of the Day that night - camera panned away and there was a big discussion on what happened - camera missed it completely and I can't remember if it was Motson or Davies, but there was the huge implication that McQueen had flattened him. Interviewed after the match - Biley refused to comment or accuse anyone of anything... can you imagine what would happen today??!!
Can't remember whether Biley came off, or even what the final score was (I'm going to hunt that down now)but I do remember him fondly for his distinctive "Rod Stewart" hairstyle and his constant energy and harassing...”
