Philpott trial: Fire deaths co-accused admitted to police he and Philpotts had threesome sex sessions, court told

THE Philpott's family friend, Paul Mosley, admitted to police that he, Mick and Mairead had threesome sex sessions together.

The father-of-two told Detective Constable Maria Neads during his police interview that he and Mairead had sexual relations but refused to say how many times, how often or for how long the relationship had been going on.

Det Con Neads was giving evidence on day 18 of the manslaughter trial at Nottingham Crown Court.

The jury was told how she had interviewed Mosley after his first arrest in June last year, a month after the fire.

The 46-year-old was released on bail following a series of interviews but then rearrested and charged with six counts of manslaughter in November.

Det Con Neads said: "When did your relationship with Mairead Philpott become sexual?"

Mosley replied: "No comment. It is something I don't want to talk about.

"It was just sex with Mai-read, we had threesomes but I did not have sex with Mick."

Det Con Needs asked: "How long was this going on for?"

Mosley said: "No comment."

Mosley, also gave "no comment" answers to further questions, including who else was involved in the sex sessions, if Mick's former partner, Lisa Willis, was involved and whether Mosley's partner was aware of the relationship.

Det Con Neads also asked: "Was there ever a relationship between you and Mairead without Mick knowing?"

Mosley said: "No comment."

During the interview, Mosley admitted that Mairead performed a sex act on him in the Premier Inn, in Uttoxeter New Road, where the Philpotts were staying after the fire.

He told the Det Con Neads: "Mick was in the room. Me and him were stood by the window having a fag and Mairead walked in front of me.

"I just finished my fag and turned away. I felt uncomfortable. It only lasted a minute or so."

Mosley also told police that Mairead did most of the things Mick told her to.

Mosley was also asked about his friendship with the Philpotts and said he had known Mick for 15 or more years and that during the two years before the fire they became closer.

He said after Ms Willis walked out, he and Mick became closer and he saw him "most days" playing snooker or darts at Philpott's house.

He told the police on the night of the fire Mick had asked him to babysit while he and his wife went out, but he refused and walked back to his home in Newdigate Street at about 1.30am.

Mosley said: "He wanted to get some space, he would normally go to a place near the river with Mairead.

"It upsets me greatly to think that I might have been in the house when the fire started and I wonder whether someone would have started that fire if Mick's van was not outside the house."

More of Mosley's police interviews are expected to be heard when the case continues at 10.15am today.
