Foxes held up in the wind

Sunday, June 22, 2008, 15:54

Derbyshire gave themselves a chance of victory when they held Leicestershire to 118-6 in their Twenty20 Cup match at the County Ground.

Skipper Rikki Clarke opted to put the Foxes in after winning the toss and a combination of a fierce crossfield wind and a lethargic opposition combined to make it a less than thrilling spectacle.

HD Ackerman batted all the way through the Leicestershire innings for 49 not out off 44 balls, with six fours, but only James Taylor, with 22, made any other impression with the bat.

Wavell Hinds' medium pace brought him 2-14 in his four overs.
