“My daughter has just had the same in London, she took her car for mot and it failed ,Wiper blade, bulbs,CV Joints,3 tyres and all discs and pads.
She replaced the bulbs and wiper blade herself, the garage replaced the CV Joints.
After phoning me I reminded her that less than a year a go she had new discs and pads fitted and has done no more than 2000 miles, alarm bells starting ringing.
She then went to her local Kwil Fit and got a good deal on her tyres and asked for the free brake check and surprise there were all ok.
She then went back to the garage who had failed it to be told that they could clean the brakes for £100 and they then should be ok.
She then went and booked her car in for another MOT at another Quik Fit who did mot,s and it passed, and we are now thinking of taking further action against the first garage.
If you give your local Council a ring they will tell you where you can go to one of there own depots to get your car a MOT and the difference there is that they do not do any repairs so if they fail it they do not benefit.”

“I had my windscreen wiper motor replaced by someone at mr clutch and as soon as i got my car back the bloke told me my windscreen had a crack in it, the car didn't have a crack in the screen to begin with and the bloke was determined to tell me that it was already there and they could get it "fixed" for me. Never been back since.”

“I've spoken to a lot of garages in Derby with doing Two Ticks site and I do hear a few bad things about the cheaper places. There are loads of websites knocking about where you can review the garage.

I reckon that as well as reporting them, if everyone that had a good or bad experience just spent 5 mins reviewing them the the garage will have to buck their ideas up.

If anyone needs to garage near them, like I said, I've spoken to loads and can confidently recommend a few.

“Another one to watch is "Speedys Wheels & Tyres". My boyfriend wanted some tyres swapping over on to different wheels and was quoted £15. Our first complaint was that when he went to pay, the guy who was then on reception told him it was £20 and that the manager had wrote £20 so he had to charge that.

We had a second, more serious complaint too. The next day, we noticed that the tyre kept deflating. We thought that it was just a fluke the first time but it kept happening. He took the car back to B&M on Abbey Street (who have always been great) and as soon as they took the tyre off the wheel, came straight back to him and showed him two or three great big cracks on the alloy! They were really bad and there was no way Speedy's didn't see them. Now, I have never worked in the motor trade and I don't know if there is any law about this kind of thing, but in my eyes this is negligence and I think they should have a duty of care to at least advise you that your wheel is disintergrating!

Stupidly we never did a letter of complaint but it is not the first bad thing I have heard about them.”
