“This is just paper talk as he's been called up for England. They made up a figure that clough needs (based roughly on our gates being down x ave ticket price) and just stirring. It would be interesting to say NC is under pressure to sell seeing as how the club hasn't released its accounts yet for the last trading year.”

“It's no surprise nor secret that premier league clubs are interested in Will, and i think we all fully expect that Will Hughes won't be a DCFC player next season.
But £4m?? Come on! The going rate for young british player with potential is around the £10m mark, and i for one will be very disappointed if the club don't show some backbone and hold out for such a figure. Hughes is tied down to a long contract, so there's no need to sell - his value will only continue to rise.
The 'need' to raise £1.8m is absolute nonsense, as Stu says: it's mere paper talk”

“So, you don't think Clough signed a good enough replacement for Shackell? Players get sold in football, money gets made. It isn't that they get sold, it is how much and what happens to the money. Clough proved all the miserable prognosis wrong when he signed (IMO) a better, younger version of Shackell in his stead. Why is there a perceived God given right to an open ended wage bill and a limitless squad WIKLOW?”
“Reports in the Telegraph are linking Derby County player Will Hughes to Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool http://tinyurl.com/cj2w2nj
Do you think the Rams will sell him?”
