A JAZZ double bill offers a chance to see pianist Kit Downes performing in two very different line-ups.

The Kit Downes Trio and Troyka can both be seen at Eden Gardens, Queen Street, Derby on Friday at 8pm.

Two years with the award winning Empirical brought Kit Downes international recognition, a high profile and plenty of air-time.

Now he plays with his acoustic trio, with Calum Gourlay on bass and James Madren on drums. He plays lyrical jazz influenced by Debussy, Bartok and Satie as well as jazz masters Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett.

The electric trio Troyka is very different. With Chris Montague on guitar and Joshua Blackmore on drums, the band made its first ever appearance at Derby Jazz Week 2007 and has since gone on to win fans across the UK.

Both trios have recently released CDs and were given four-star ratings in the Guardian.

Tickets for the event are £10. To book, call 01332 418800 after 5pm.
