Duffield is situated next to the River Derwent, five miles north of Derby.

It has three schools; the two primary schools are William Gilbert Endowed School and Duffield Meadows School and the secondary school is Ecclesbourne.

Duffield is the home of the Derbyshire Building Society, at Duffield Hall, which is just south of the village centre.


Public transport: Duffield has an unmanned railway station. The nearest manned stations are Derby and Belper.

A regular bus service runs to many places including Derby; Bakewell; Ripley; Long Eaton; Belper and Mackworth.


Sports and leisure: The nearest leisure centre to Duffield is at Belper, which has a large sports hall; activity hall; courts for squash and badminton; swimming pool and new health and fitness facilities.
