Fire engine will be axed from Derby
A FIRE engine will be axed from Derby despite thousands of members of the public signing a petition against the plans.
Derbyshire Fire Authority members this afternoon voted to remove one of the two engines from Ascot Drive Fire Station.

Under the move, full-time stations will also be created at Swadlincote, Matlock and Glossop, with a total of 18 extra staff taken on.
But campaigners fear the removal of one of Derby's four engines could put lives at risk.

“yes we saw the firemen on burton rd lttleover today prottestind .sorry lads remember the elections councillor care and care .have no qualms about ones saftey.that one fire engine could be life or death for both fire brigade and a person trapped . also if an engine gets in a smash were one short / as councillor carr said only a couple of weeks ago when he gave ratepayers monent to an incinerator to appeal against the other dept .min of £160.000 ,to bring child deaths and cancers to derby /independant councillor alan graves /asked him would he not like to leave the children of derby a legacy for good health for the future . carr replied he was not bothered .some father and granfather he is ,remember him in the elections .vote for the ones who value your health . good luck to the firebrigade they deserve better ./pete spondon against cyclamax incinerator group.facebook /”
