Derbyshire were beaten by eight wickets at the end of the third day of their final LV County Championship match of the season at Grace Road.

Leicestershire cruised past their target of 190 to hit the winning runs in the third over of the extra half-hour.

A stand of 145 for the second wicket between Boeta Dippenaar (84 not out) and Matthew Boyce (68) saw them through after Derbyshire had been bowled out for 203 in their second innings.

Steve Stubbings (44), Paul Borrington (41) and Dom Telo (13) fell before lunch after an hour's delay because of fog and it was clear the wicket was not going to make life easy for batsmen.

Dan Redfern was run out in the first over after lunch by an astonishing throw from Sam Cliff at long on to the striker's end, with Greg Smith and Graham Wagg following quickly to make it 135-6.

A stand of 47 between Tom New and Ross Whiteley helped Derbyshire's position but the second new ball accounted for three wickets in successive overs - New for 36, Whiteley for 18 and Jake Needham for one.

White had a late dash with 16 before becoming last man out, with Mark Lawson out to bat with him despite a broken finger.
