FOR the second week running, Mass Effect 2 gets the gold, while MAG, Dante's Inferno and COD:MW2 ensure that Nintendo does not have a title in the top four for the first time since early September 1816, when Napoleon's Mama's Cooking 3 struck mini-game gold. Don't worry though, Just Dance is still in there at five, selling strongly off the back of those family get-togethers at Christmas. Massively multiplayer RPG Star Trek Online bags a place in the list too.

1. Mass Effect 2

2. MAG

3. Dante’s Inferno

4. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

5. Just Dance

THE Nintendo Wii is so far winning the current console war - marking a big swing in favour of the big N after the disappointment of the Gamecube and N64. Selling more than 50m, its distinguishing feature is its wireless controller which - along with games like Wii Sports and Wii Fit - has cornered the casual gaming market.

The Xbox 360 has sold more than 30m to comfortably fit into second place in the current generation of consoles.

Along with the PS3, it has a glut of first-person shooters and is famed for its online play - particularly with games like Call of Duty.

PS3

SONY smashed it with the PS2 - the best selling home console of all time. But it's struggling with the pricey PS3, languishing in third place in terms of sales, and industry experts predict a price cut any time soon.
