ASTON on Trent took advantage of Spondon's weekend off to go to the top of the Derbyshire Indoor Cricket League.

But Spondon, who have a 100% record, have a game in hand and the top two meet tomorrow at the Gateway Centre in a game which could go a long way towards deciding the title.

Aston simply have to keep winning to keep the pressure on and they did that comfortably enough at Nutbrook's expense, when their 103 all out was 25 runs better than their opponents could manage.

David Smyth had a spectacular game for Stainsby in their win over Ilkeston.

He hit an unbeaten 54 in Stainsby's 131-3, in which Tom Wood also hit an unbeaten 50, and then took a hat-trick to stop Ilkeston's pursuit in its tracks.

Ilkeston were bowled out for 108 for a 23-run defeat.

Ilkeston still share bottom place with Nutbrook and Alvaston & Boulton.

A&B were the third of the strugglers to suffer a big defeat, their 99-4 being knocked off for the loss of only one wicket by Brailsford.

Rolls-Royce did not lose any wickets as they overhauled Elvaston's 112-2, with Haq Nawaz, Sahd Shafiq and Darren Yeomans all scoring 27 not out.

In Division Two, Marehay were without a game, giving West Hallam the chance to take over on their own at the top.

They did that with ease, skittling Quarndon for only 56 and knocking them off with one wicket down.

All the games in Division Two were won by the sides batting second, the best of them seeing Rolls-Royce B knock off a good target of 126-4 set by Elvaston B with only two wickets standing.
