Take heed Gandhi's words of wisdom
IN his letter "Williamson keeps loony left alive" (Derby Telegraph, June 15), Carl Peters states that one of his supporters wrote to the Telegraph that Mr Williamson's anti-blood sports background means he is a caring person.
This person was me. I voted for Chris Williamson, mainly as a friend and fellow worker for Derbyshire social services.
In a letter to me from the House of Commons, Chris wrote that "the great Mahatma Gandhi said: 'The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated'".
Carl Peters would do well to heed these words of wisdom spoken by one of the most admired men of the 20th century.

“I was under the impression Savros Kavina was retired, and it doesn't take long to write in does it. Those who come to insult him find the time, so why shouldn't Mr Kavina?
Mark, your comment shows great ignorance. Try to not stereotype will you, or we'll just have to assume you're a right-wing slash and burn hate filled fascist, and i'm sure you'd feel insulted by that wouldn't you?”

“'Savros has a job?
I assumed from the amount he 'contributes' to the paper that he sat at his typewriter at home all day
'
To be fair, it doesn't take that long to write in.”

“You work for Social Services?
With such pinko-lefty tree-hugging do-gooders working for them, it's little wondero they're as about effective as chocolate body armour”

“I was going to say exactly the same thing r,m.I see this is yet another chance for Savros Kavina to name drop. Personally when i vote its the policies and not the fact that i work with the person that gets them my vote. Oh well, until the next time Savros Kavina manages to ' crow bar' the name of someone else he knows into one of his many pointless letters................................................................................”

“Savros Kavina, Derby you do not make it crystal clear that "one of the most admired men of the 20th century" refers to the Mahatma and not Chris Williamson (yet). Mahatma Gandhi, when asked what he thought of Western civilization said; "I think it would be a good idea". This is also a quote we should keep in mind when pontificating about the ills of the world and the perfection of Britain.”
