Man outside primary school "was not" taking pictures of children

Thursday, June 25, 2009, 11:50

FEARS that a man was lurking opposite a Derby primary school taking pictures of children have been allayed this lunchtime.

Four pupils at Hilton primary school reported seeing a man pointing a camera in their direction opposite the school field yesterday lunchtime.

However CCTV footage confirms the man was taking pictures of a cracked windscreen in the Village Hall car park.

Parents and police were informed last night of the reports but headteacher James Hilton said there was no longer a need to be concerned.

He said: "It turns out that a tractor churned up a stone and that cracked the windscreen of a car. CCTV footage at the Village Hall shows the man was taking pictures of the damage."

He added that the pupils were right to report their concerns and that he was relieved the incident turned out to be a false alarm.
