Village ready to party on street

Tuesday, June 30, 2009, 07:30

A VILLAGE street party is being held in Hilton this week for the first time in five years.

There will be falconry displays, fairground rides, along with a variety of stalls, at the party on Saturday.

The party, which was once an annual event, stopped after the organising committee folded.

Chris Hill has now taken up the helm and hopes it will become an annual event again.

The 42-year-old, who is former chairman of the parent-teacher association at Hilton Primary School, said: "There are lots of things going on during the day, including gymnastics and karate displays, falconry displays, fairground rides and a barbecue."

The party is in and around the village hall, in Peacroft Lane, from 2pm until 6pm. Admission is free.
