Man who killed Burton pensioner jailed for life

breaking news

A MAN has today been sentenced to life in prison after he pleaded guilty to murdering a Burton pensioner.

Irfan Salim was told he would serve at least 16 years in prison for killing 79-year-old Ellen Portsmouth in November.

Salim, 25, was a friend of the landlord of the property where Mrs Portsmouth lived.

KRIS Commons fired a spectacular winner for Derby County as they beat Manchester United 1-0 in tonight's Carling Cup semi-final first leg at Pride Park Stadium.
