More homes but will our services be able to cope?
THE Derby Telegraph reported on proposed housing developments on Rykneld Road and Bakeacre Lane, amounting to a gross number of some 2,000 houses ("Traffic and flooding worries fail to halt plans for 800 new homes", January 11).
The next day, it reported on the problems of finding school places for children, one of the problem areas being Normanton's influx of Eastern Europeans.
And, of course, the ongoing problems due to this influx arise in such areas as health care, employment, road and transport facilities. And so may we ask, just who is going to bear the costs of all of the above? Where is the increased fuel, gas, electric, food and water going to come from? And what benefit to this once-proud country shall all this provide?
I wish I knew the answer. Sadly, the politicians don't know either.
