“ I have eaten at Makeney Hall Hotel a number of times and the food has always been superb. In terms of presentation and quality, it is difficult to fault. The conservatory dining area has marvellous views over the Derwent valley so, all in all, a really nice experience. A bit out of the way but I suppose that's part of the charm. ”

“Our room was a standard double room with ensuite. High points - the accomodation was generally nice, the bed was comfy and the hotel is in a lovely country setting in Makeney with easy access to Milford (and all importantly an excellent pub The Holly Bush) and the attention to detail and staff courtesy were what you would expect of a four-star hotel.
However there were a few low points for us. There was quite a bit of noise transferred between the rooms and our neighbour's television was right next to our wall which didn't help when we wanted to have a quick kip after our journey. Also the bath was quite small.
We also thought that at ten pounds each, the breakfast wasn't brilliant value for money, although the conservatory setting was nice.
Having said that we can't complain given how much the weekend cost on our voucher deal, but if I was travelling to Makeney again, I'd be tempted either to look for other B&B's or to upgrade from the standard rooms.”

“Makeney Hall hotel is about 8 miles from Derby city centre and is the perfect venue for a wedding. I attended a wedding there last year and I can’t fault it. The setting was beautiful and the food was delicious. My only complaint would be the price of the drinks!”
