A new twist on a romantic operetta favourite
OPERA della Luna will return to Buxton Opera House with a new production of Lehár's classic operetta The Merry Widow on Friday, February 17.
The production is a new English translation of the perennial favourite.
The company are also aiming to give it a fresh new look with "imaginative staging, whilst still capturing the glamour and decadence of turn of the century Paris and infusing the production with Opera della Luna's trademark wit".
The Merry Widow is the story of Hanna, a farm girl, untutored and with no sophistication. She marries an 80-year-old for his money, and when he dies soon after, decides to blow it all on a good time in Paris, resulting in the merriment of the title.
There's also plenty of romance, confusion and a twist in the tail.
The show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets for The Merry Widow are priced at £17.50 and £19.50 (with concessions available).
