Derby man charged with terrorism offences

The move was part of
an anti-terror operation, investigating threats to kill Prime Minister Gordon
Brown, which saw four other arrests made last
month.
This morning he was
charged with three offences under the Act.
The offences relate to
allegedly possessing four kilograms of potassium nitrate for use in a terrorist
act and possessing information on how to make explosives and bombs between
January 1 and August 27 this year.
He is expected to
appear at
Four other men have
already been charged in relation to this operation.
It is understood no
actual plot was in place but that officers from Lancashire Constabulary and
Greater Manchester Counter Terrorism Unit discovered a written threat on an
extremist website earlier this year.
Officers spent several
day searching Mr Lusha’s house and two cars parked near the house were taken
away by police for forensic examination.
Last week police were
given an extra week to question him and had until tomorrow to charge him or they
would have had to apply for a further extension.
The other men arrested
in connection with the alleged terror plot are brothers Abbas Iqbal, 23, Ilyas
Iqbal, 21, and Ishaq Kanmi, 22, were arrested at Manchester Airport and in
Accrington on August 14, and Muhammad Ali Mumtaz Ahmad, 24, of Blackburn, was
detained on August 26.
All four have since
been charged and remanded in custody after also appearing before City of
