their houses after the River Henmore burst its banks.

A watch was being kept on a
number of Derbyshire rivers.
The River Wye
burst its banks at Ashford in the Water and the river Amber at South Wingfield was just two feet below flood
level by mid-morning.
The River Derwent
in Matlock was five feet below the bank at 9.30am and four feet below the

No-one was hurt
but the road remained closed until after 8am.
Weather
forecasters have warned that there is more rain to come and the Environment
