Derby's street pastors help people into taxis, clear away broken glass and give flip-flops to female party-goers who take off their shoes in the street.
It won a prize in Derbyshire police's first annual Community Achievement Awards earlier this month.
The group was one of 14 nominees recognised by police in Derby for making a difference to the city.
Now councillors want to praise the team's work.
Councillor Pauline Latham will propose a motion of thanks at the next full council meeting tomorrow.
