Derby gun gang members given two-year Asbos

Monday, October 06, 2008, 08:20

FOUR members of a gang which was involved in a number of firearms incidents in Derby have been given anti-social behaviour orders.

Ashley Campbell, 23, Jacob Alps, 19, Kyle Noon 22, and Christian Gordon, 19, were each given two-year orders following an application by police.

The terms of the order ban them from causing harassment, alarm or distress and encouraging others to do the same.

During the hearing, police read out statements and intelligence reports that they said linked the gang to a number of firearms incidents in Derby. However, defence solicitors repeatedly challenged the claims.

Having listened to the arguments, District Judge Judy Golbourn said: "I am satisfied from the evidence supported by intelligence that all four respectively are members of a gang known as the A1."

She added that she believed the gang had been involved in serious offences involving firearms.

"I am satisfied these incidents have caused alarm and distress to the people of Derby, who deserve better."
