Telly star Jason's support for air ambulance work

Friday, November 13, 2009, 07:30

TELEVISION actor David Jason has shown his support for Derbyshire's air ambulance charity.

The Only Fools and Horses star, who plays Del Boy, attended the annual general meeting of the Association of Air Ambulances, of which he is patron.

He met Catherine Foster, regional manager for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance, who said he had talked to her about the importance of its work.

Ms Foster said it was "fantastic" that he had taken time out to be at the meeting.

She said: "I was intrigued to know how he had become patron of such a group and it all comes down to helicopters.

"He flies his own helicopter and through his love of flying had found out about air ambulances and was subsequently asked to become patron of the association.

"It was a real boost to hear him speak about what great work air ambulances do nationally and I hope he will encourage the people of Derby and beyond to fund-raise for us."
