UPDATED: Three-vehicle collision causes traffic problems on M1

MOTORISTS travelling along a stretch of the M1 are facing delays after a three-vehicle collision.

The incident, involving two cars and a lorry, took place in the northbound carriageway close to Trowell service station at about 1pm.

Two lanes were temporarily closed after the incident and tailbacks stretched as far as junction 25, at Long Eaton.

The lanes have now been reopened, although traffic is still congested on the carriageway.

It is not yet known whether anyone was injured in the collision.
