If you go down in the woods, you'll hear Simply Red

Sunday, November 08, 2009, 07:30

FORESTS in Derbyshire could be getting a cash injection after chart-toppers Simply Red agreed to perform an outdoor gig.

Money raised at the show, which will be performed at Sherwood Pines Forest Park, near Edwinstowe in Nottinghamshire, on Friday, June 18, next year will be pumped back into nearby woodlands.

Derbyshire areas that could be in line for the cash include Matlock Moor and Cromford Moor.

The gig is part of the Music in the Forest series organised by the Forestry Commission.

Simply Red, fronted by singer Mick Hucknall, join a long list of stars, including Pulp, Paul Weller and Status Quo, who have taken part in previous forest gigs.

Concert organiser Chris Bray said: "Past performers at Sherwood read like a who's who of the British rock scene."

Tickets are £38 from the Forestry Commission box office on 01842 814612.
