“Dear Old Derby.I miss it so much. Born in Chaddesden 1937 and left England in 1960 for Australia. It still tugs the heart strings when ever I see all the old pics of the district. I returned in 1990 for a few weeks and was surprised to see how little it had changed, apart from the enormous Eagle centre and the loss of Cockpit hill.
I used to love the smell in the market Hall at Christmas time and the thought of it being a white Christmas. It's totally different sweltering in the high 30's (celsius) on Christmas day here in NSW.
Returning home for a last visit is on my bucket list but I would have to win the lottery for that to happen.
