“ I recently visited the County and Station Hotel for some food and we also wanted to get out of the cold to be honest! The overall service I found to be excellent and the food we chose was of a high standard and was definately excellent value for money. I will definately be re-visitng again in the future. ”

“The County and Station in Matlock Bath is a traditional pub that serves good, homely food. They have a varied menu which includes old favourites and a selection of vegetarian dishes. We ate there on Saturday night and had as mains, a feta and sunblush tomato tart with salad and new potatoes, mushroom and pepper stroganoff with rice and a 'giant' steak pie with chips and veg. The giant pies are obviously a favourite with diners as lots of them were being ordered. The menu told us that 'all pies are made on the premises and served fresh from the oven.'
All our food was well cooked, tasty, good sized portions and obviously homemade. Realistic waiting times for food are stated which gives you chance to look at the historic prints of Matlock on their walls or play pool, which we did, and the menu also tells diners that, 'all mashed potatoes are made fresh each day from selected potatoes and the sausages they serve are from the Chatsworth Farm Shop.
Service was excellent and the prices very reasonable indeed. We ate quite late and were unfortunately too late to order dessert, but we will be going back to the County and Station again. Oh, and they had the cutest little dog in the pub that sat on a bar stool and wore a little tartan jacket; reason enough to go again, I think!”
