“ I eat out a lot in Belper and I have to say you'd struggle to match the quality of food at the Fishermans! Always a very interesting menu - the chef is very imaginative and the selection is always changing. Reasonable prices for unusual food cooked with real flair. My partner is less adventurous than me and he always finds a good classic to fill him up - he recommends the Barnsley! Can't recommend it enough! Really friendly, welcoming and helpful staff and a nice range of ales to wash it all down with. (Their pedigree is first rate!) I keep going back again and again. ”

Paul and Joby invite you to join them in a pub that prides itself on being an open, friendly, relaxed space.
Not just another gastro-pub serving piles of low quality food for cut-down prices, we at the Fisherman's Rest are committed to serving local, organic, full-flavoured, and original fodder. Our menu is subject to almost daily changes, allowing us to ensure that everything served is 100% fresh. At the fisherman's rest you could find yourself eating pork or beef reared just 1 mile up the road, or fish caught that very morning and couriered up from Grimsby by 7am! Our chef's flair and inventiveness is evident in every mouthful.
As well as the food, we're obviously keen on a good tipple! We serve world class Pedigree - kept like it used to be, along with a wide range of wines, beers, and guest Ales.
Our friendly team are always happy to help and we invite you to join us in our happy, welcoming pub and restaurant.
We advise booking in advance for evening meals, but walk-in customers are always welcome! We keep this site updated with regular voucher offers, so remember to check back for some great deals.

“Having just moved into the area, myself and my husband went into the Fisherman's for a meal. The food itself was fabulous, but unfortunately the woman behind the bar was acting as if it was an inconvenience that we were even there. It is such a shame as the food was lovely and we were looking for somewhere to go regularly with friends, family and business associates but sadly due to the lack of welcome we received, we will not be going back! Thankfully the Devonshire Arms in Belper was a lot friendlier and the food also excellent, they will be getting our custom in future!!”

“I visited this place recently and was most impressed with the standard of the food they offered, it took me ages to choose as there was so much on offer. The food was simply delicious and both our plates were cleared!! We will definately be returning to sample another meal and would not hesitate in recommending this place to anyone.”

“This pub has all the classics on the menu and I can thoroughly recommend the steak... not overpriced and cooked just the way I like it! This pub felt like a good find when we stumbled across it after visiting some friends... would return if I am back in the area.”

“The Fisherman's rest on Broadholme Lane is a little out of the town centre, but well worth a visit and is handy if your travelling down the A6 down towards Ambergate and Matlock.
Serves fantastic Ales and food, with regular guest beers.
It also has a handy beer garden, which is very popular in the summer and great if you've got kids.”
