Three rescued after two-car smash in Merrill Way, Allenton

THREE people were trapped in their cars for an hour after a collision involving two cars in Derby last night.

Fire crews removed both vehicles' roofs and rescued the three adult casualties using spinal boards.

All three were taken to hospital. The full extent of their injuries could not be confirmed.

The silver Nissan Micra and grey Renault Laguna crashed in Merrill Way, Allenton, at the junction with Boulton Lane at around 7pm.
