“ Surely the only Indian in town... or anywhere to sell low calorie curry! I have to confess that I don't calorie count at restaurants (it's my time off) but I think it's a great idea as curries can be very calorific. Either way the curries and atmosphere at this place is top notch. ”

Raises the bar for curries in Derby

“The Shalimar sits in the centre of a cluster of Indian restaurants along Midland Road, including Anoki and The Viceroy's venture into Derby. But having sampled all of the restaurants on the row, I think The Shalimar edges it. The service is always superb and you feel very well looked after from the moment you set foot inside to the moment you leave. Chicken tikka masala is a favourite dish of mine and the one here is world-class. The restaurant is always packed out at the weekend so you may be waiting for a while, regardless of whether you're eating in or taking away.”
