When will something be done about our roads?

I AM writing because I felt the need to air something which is fast becoming a serious problem. I am referring to the state of the roads and pavements, specifically Ashbourne Road alongside Markeaton Park. The potholes on the road are just getting worse and, in the 10 years I have been walking on the pavement next to this road, I have never seen anything like it.

The potholes are huge, and pose a health and safety risk, especially as there is a lot of heavy traffic in the form of juggernauts and tankers. Cyclists would not stand a chance if their wheels got caught in one of these potholes and there was a lorry behind them.

Also, speaking as a pedestrian, I have to mention all the stones and gravel from the crumbling road, which are tossed by the vehicles on to the pavement. I rang Derby Street Pride about this some weeks back and they cleared most of the stones off the pavement within two days.

However, it is back to square one already.

When will the road be repaired? Are we going to have to wait for an accident to occur before anything is done?

“Streetpride do a good job - but in this case I believe the A52 ~(beyond the ring road) is a Trunk Road and it is the responsibility of the Highways Agency. The council may have passed on your concern to them but you can do it yourself. My guess is that they are waiting for the cable laying works to finish before they do anything.:
"How do I report a problem on a trunk road?

If you see a problem on one of these dual carriageways you can either report it to us and we will pass the information onto A-one+ for you or you can contact them yourself.
