It's just an attempt at political point-scoring
I REFER to the political duet Aaron Marsden has turned his and Bob MacDonald's letters into, "Wait until election time for cash to improve area" (February 18).
Firstly, Mr Marsden is fully aware of what we are doing in Alvaston. He was sitting at the meeting when this was explained to residents.
He has known for some time that the money to regenerate Alvaston District Centre has been put back into the capital budget. Indeed, he fails to explain why, from 2008 to 2012, Alvaston was ignored by successive Tory and Lib Dem administrations and has had to wait until a Labour administration is back in charge.
Mr Marsden also knows that any income from brown bins will be a whole council issue and will not go back into the wards as a form of income.

His whole letter is a cynical attempt to score political points.

POT! KETTLE! BLACK!
Oooh the hypocrisy and the fact she just could not see it as she wrote her propoganda-laden outpouring.”

“Councillor Linda Winter
There is no political point scoring intended at all, I am a local resident of Alvaston and as a local resident of Alvaston I am voicing my concerns about the current neglect within the area.
Unfortunately the meeting you mention was in fact the same day my letter of support for Mr MacDonald was published.
As I have also stated before any money being invested in Alvaston is fantastic news, and I applaud any party which manages to secure this.
One final note is that I may be a Conservative party member, but I am a resident of Alvaston first
Kind Regards
Arron Marsden”

“And you don't score political points, do you?”
