Fire service called to two house fires in Derby

A FIRE in a bedroom left one man needing treatment for smoke inhalation.

Fire crews were called to the property in Hope Street, Melbourne, at about 10.15pm last night.

The family were alerted to the fire by their smoke alarm and called the fire service who extinguished the fire.

Firefighters were also called to a house fire in Station Road, in Duffield in the early hours of this morning.

Crews from two stations were called to the semi-detached property at about 4am and put out a fire in one of the bedrooms.

One man was given first aid treatment and firefighters left the scene around 4.45am.
