RECENT days have seen a landmark Parliamentary moment: Liberal Democrats helped to make history by voting for marriage equality, as part of a huge majority of 400 to just 175.

This is the culmination of many years of work by Liberal Democrats, including Lynne Featherstone and her successor as Equalities Minister, Jo Swinson.

As the figures clearly show, it has strong cross-party support.

We are not there yet – there are debates still to be had and there will be challenges in the House of Lords.

However, the fact it is so near now to becoming law is a huge achievement.

We can also be proud of the fact the Coalition has seen the wisdom of moving to keep marriage as a secular matter, and of not forcing religious bodies to conduct same-gender unions.

Liberal Democrats are committed to advancing a fairer society for all.

“Shouldn't crow just yet Kate Smith, with the scandal facing the Limp Dims over the sexual assaults by one of the Limp Dims Lords from the house of frauds you really should keep your head down. That coupled with lies by Hulme over his driving and subsequent court case and even Clegg lying over knowing about the creepy Lord. The limp dims will disappear into oblivion after the next election never to be seen again.”

“Oh yes, the LibDems, that bastion of law abiding upright citizens.”
