FOOTBALL stars Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney mess around with TV star James Corden – and it is all caught on camera by a Derby photographer.

The celebrities were taking part in a spoof exercise session led by chubby comedian Corden at Manchester United's training ground. And it was all captured on camera for the Sport Relief campaign.

Stuart Wood, of Chaddesden, was invited to take the publicity pictures for the event and described the experience as "amazing".

The 48-year-old has also taken snaps of boxer Amir Khan for the charity, which holds its annual TV fund-raiser next week, when the Corden clip will be shown.

Stuart, speaking of the shot where Rio is holding his fingers behind James Corden's head, said: "I had literally 90 seconds to get the shot, it was that quick.

"I was saying to James Corden 'give me some faces'. Then I said to Rio 'do rabbit ears behind his head for me' – I think that makes it.

"It was quite stressful but what an amazing experience – it's about being calm under fire."

The trip to shoot at the football club's Carrington training base was made even more exciting by the arrival of team manager Sir Alex Ferguson, with England boss Fabio Capello.

Last year, Stuart was asked to do some publicity shots for Sport Relief when James Corden visited the England team but was devastated when he realised he had another job on.

It made him even more keen to take this year's pictures, one of which hangs in the BBC Centre foyer, in London.

He was not paid for the work, but says it raises his profile.

Other shots are expected to be used on magazines and billboards to publicise next weekend's TV extravaganza.

In 1991, with £3,000 from the Prince's Trust, Stuart set up his own photography business.

His big break came in 1994 when he was booked to take pictures on the set of the BBC's big budget costume drama Pride and Prejudice.

Stuart has focused his career on photographing celebrities and has had his work used in publications including OK and Hello magazine.

He has also worked for clients such as Grazia, the BBC and the Radio Times.

Mars have also hired him for the company's World Cup campaign.

And last week, he was in London, Newcastle and Cardiff for jobs before returning to his home county to take pictures at Chatsworth House.

It is the variety of the job that Stuart likes.

He said: "It's something different every day, that's why I love my job."

This year's Sport Relief takes place from Friday, March 19, to Sunday, March 21.

Previous fund-raising feats include Little Britain star David Walliams' swimming across the Channel and comedian Eddie Izzard running marathons around the UK. It raises money to get young people playing sports in this country and abroad.
