A Growing Success Since 1941
Meynell Langley Gardens is still family owned and run 70 years after Samuel Walker moved from nearby Tissington Hall to take up the post of Head Gardener at the Meynell Langley Estate.
We are locally renowned growers of spring and autumn bedding, hanging baskets, and patio plants together with Herbaceous perennials trees and shrubs. Apples and other tree fruits are just one of our specialities.
The Trials Garden is where we test all new and existing varieties grown in the adjacent to the nursery. Included in the entry fee is a comprehensive plant listing for you to keep.
Pruning demonstrations and Apple tasting days are also regularly organised, so please check our website for upcoming dates.
The gardens are open daily from late April till mid-October, and also opens on numerous occasions for the National Gardens Scheme charity during spring and summer.
Our own grown Christmas trees, Poinsettias and cut flowers are a festive treat as well.
The Meynell Langley tea rooms opened in spring 2012 and provide tasty light lunches, tea, coffee and delicious homemade cakes daily.

Top Tea Rooms
“We have been visiting these tea rooms since August and love it. The staff are so friendly which along with the quality of the food is what makes these tea rooms so special. Nothing is too much trouble. The jacket potatoes are fluffy and have wonderful flavour and as for the cakes, well they are mouth watering. Highly recommend these tea rooms and to top it off there is a fabulous long established garden nursery and gardens to explore before or after!”

Fabulous Place
“We have been going to Meynell Langley Tea Rooms ever since it has opened. We enjoy it so much that we have been known to go three times in one week! Our friends and family enjoy it when we take them there. We love the ambience, the freshly prepared food, the homemade cakes and the refills for coffee drinkers. You always get a warm welcome and the staff are very friendly. In the summer you can sit out on the decking and during the cooler months the indoors is warm and inviting. Altogether, an enjoyable experience.”
