Gemma: It all feels very unreal

Friday, September 05, 2008, 15:33

Gemma Arterton has said her rise to fame has been a bit "freakish".

The 22-year-old actress hit the big time when she starred in St Trinian's last year and went onto bag a showy role in new James Bond flick Quantum Of Solace.

She told the Daily Mirror: "It has actually been quite freakish. I don't think it usually happens this quickly so I haven't had time to get my head round it. It all feels very unreal."

But the brunette insists she plans to "stay as grounded as I can", and says she understands forging a lengthy career in Hollywood can be tough.

"It's difficult for a young girl like me," said Gemma, who is currently appearing in ITV mini-series Lost In Austen.

"Because there's a certain time for young actresses, which is like a really juicy period when all the parts are love interests and young heroines. Of course, there's always work for men whatever age they are."

Quantum Of Solace is released on October 31.
