A SINGING campaign aimed at slowing the progression of Alzheimer's disease in dementia patients starts next week.

Volunteers from the Derby Alzheimer's Society will be hosting Singing For The Brain sessions, where patients, their carers and families can sing songs to help stimulate the brain.

Tracks on the play list include Feeling Groovy, by Simon and Garfunkel, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, by Judy Garland, and The Bare Necessities, from Disney's Jungle Book.

The free sessions will be held at Woodlands Church, in Blenheim Parade, and are open to patients, carers and families.

Alzheimer's Society volunteer Janie Belhaven will be leading the project, starting at 2pm on Monday.
