Burton Albion: Peschisolido salutes Premier-class goal from Phillips
Phillips struck what proved to be the Brewers' winner in the 31st minute after a slick passing move by the visitors at Blundell Park.
"Jimmy's goal was superb," said Brewers manager Peschisolido.
"The build-up play was excellent.
"If you saw that in the Premier League, it wouldn't look out of place.
"It was a brilliant build-up and a great finish."
Victory at Grimsby meant the Brewers achieved consecutive wins following their home success against Rochdale and Peschisolido believes his side can continue to improve.
"I'm delighted with the result," Peschisolido added.
"It's massive and we need to make sure we build on it now.
"We'll look forward to the next game, you can shoot up the league very quickly when you put two or three wins together.
"I think we can play better, though. There were spells when we played some very good stuff.
"But we had to hang on there at the end. We have to get out of this mind-set where we sit back in the last 10 minutes and let them attack us."
An error by Burton keeper Artur Krysiak gifted the Mariners a fourth-minute lead and Peschisolido was frustrated by his team's start.
"We didn't start out of the blocks very well," said Peschisolido.
"I don't think we had the same tempo as we did against Rochdale.
"But we got the three points even though we were about average today.
"You feel bad for the lad (Krysiak). He just dwelled on it and a start like that kind of kills you.
"In fairness to Artur, he's been superb this season.
"He's a young lad and he will make mistakes but, unfortunately, that cost us a goal today.
"But the lads got him out of trouble with a couple of great goals."
Peschisolido was particularly pleased with Phillips' impact.
"Jimmy has always been in my plans and we know what he can do," Peschisolido added.
"Maybe it's taken me a little bit to realise we needed to get him back in the team, we've done that now and I thought he was magnificent today.'
Aaron Webster made his League debut in the second half to replace Paul Boertien, who looked to have suffered a nasty cut above his eye.
And Peschisolido believes that having options such as Webster on the bench is testament to the squad's strength in depth.
"We had to fight to get Paul Boertien off the field!" said Peschisolido. "That just shows his desire.
"We were concerned because the eye looked in a bad way and the blood was going on to his shirt so we couldn't afford to have him off the pitch to replace it.
"But I have no problem if I need to take a player like Boertien off because I have people like Aaron Webster to come on in their place.'
