Cricket: Win chance after eventful day for Derbyshire
Leicestershire reached the close on 209-7 in their second innings, ahead by 256, and if Derbyshire can get the remaining three wickets swiftly, they will be favourites to win the game.
Garry Park added only two runs to his overnight 70 before he edged a ball from left-arm spinner George Walker to slip in the seventh over of the day.
By then, Dan Redfern had completed his third Championship half-century of the season but he was out the over after Park, caught behind for 50 off James Allenby.
Wavell Hinds started with intent, driving the second ball he faced for six, but having moved effortlessly to 40, he too was caught by Tom New off Iain O'Brien.
New Zealander O'Brien went on to help himself to Derbyshire's last six wickets to finish with figures of 6-87 and New claimed six catches.
Jamie Pipe scored 49 and Greg Smith 40 in the Derbyshire innings.
Leicestershire were soon one down in the third over of their second innings as Josh Cobb was caught behind off Graham Wagg and they were 19-2 when Boeta Dippenaar ran himself out going for a second run.
Matt Boyce top-edged a cut to third man off Nantie Hayward and HD Ackerman was caught at cover off Jake Needham in the penultimate over before tea to make it 73-4.
Allenby added a swift 52 and a stand of 65 between New (63 not out) and Walker (13) held Derbyshire up before substitute fielder Ben Slater caught Walker at short leg in the penultimate over of the day.
