Saturday, November 14, 2009, 07:30

SPONDON are the new leaders of Derbyshire County Cricket Club Indoor League Division One.

With Brailsford not in action during the latest round of matches, Spondon edged ahead at the top, despite both sides being on the same number of points, with a comprehensive 64-run victory over Lullington Park.

Joe Ashdown's 42 helped Spondon – who now have five wins out of five – to a total of 132-4 at the Gateway Centre.

In reply, Jonny Shales, who had earlier taken 2-44, hit 28 but Lullington were dismissed for just 68.

Rolls-Royce are third after a 13-run success over Elvaston.

Royces, batting first, posted 125-5 and Elvaston fell short as they were bowled out for 108.

Aston narrowly lost a close game against Ilkeston, despite an unbeaten 74 from Haq Nawaz.

Ilkeston made 110-4, including 31 not out from Dave Smit, and despite Nawaz's heroics, Aston fell six runs short as they closed on 104-5.

Elsewhere, Swarkestone conceded their game against Nutbrook.

Alvaston & Boulton returned to the top of Division Two after making it five wins out of five against bottom club West Hallam.

West Hallam were then dismissed for 60, despite James Lockhart's 33, with Chris Stevenson taking 3-12.
