Swimming: Ann Morris in the frame for East Midlands junior honour

SWIMMER Ann Morris is in the frame for the East Midlands Junior Sportsperson of the Year award.

Morris struck bronze in the 400m freestyle final at the European Junior Championships in Prague – her first international competition.

The Morley girl, a former Derventio eXcel swimmer, now training with Nova Centurion, missed out on silver by just over a second.

She also made her full Great Britain debut, competing in the Tri-Nations event against Canada and Russia at Crystal Palace at the end of the summer.
