Stoke City have completed the signing of Southampton defender Andrew Davies for a fee of about £1.3m.
The 23-year-old has put to paper on a four-year contract only eight months after joining Southampton from Middlesbrough following a loan spell.
Potters boss Tony Pulis said: "He is a good young player who has got ability and some Premier League experience."
Cardiff City have signed Northampton Town defender Gabor Gyepes to replace Glenn Loovens, who has joined Celtic for £2.5m.
The 27-year-old Hungarian international signed on a two-year deal for a fee thought to be in the region of £200,000.
Gyepes said: "I hope to play for Hungary again but must concentrate on gaining a starting place and performing well for Cardiff."
Ipswich Town have put their bid for Shola Ameobi on hold because of a hamstring injury to the Newcastle United striker.
The problem was revealed by a medical and is unlikely to heal before the end of the August transfer window.
"It's disappointing but you have to be careful with hamstring injuries," said Ipswich boss Jim Magilton.
