Rugby union: Ashbourne lads finish runners-up

ASHBOURNE Under-9s were crowned runners-up at their NLD finals day in Newark.

They qualified from their group with a win against Nottingham B and a draw with Lincoln, before beating Nottingham A in the semi-final by virtue of having scored more tries after the match ended all square.

In the final, Ashbourne succumbed to West Bridgford, despite a late try from Will Farr – his fifth of the day.

The Ashbourne team was: Toby Doran, George Beard, Louis Howson, Thomas Brown, Bertie Linnell, Jack Bowers, Will Farr, Al Stuart-Monteith, Oscar Wainwright, Will Mousley, Archie Shaw, Charlie Hart, Kieran Bennett and Matthew Young.
