THE next step in bringing superfast broadband to places in Derbyshire with poor internet connections has been welcomed by county MP Pauline Latham.

The county council is leading the Digital Derbyshire programme, which will invest at least £14.78 million to bring improvements by 2015. It now has permission to move to the procurement phase for the work.

Mrs Latham, MP for Mid Derbyshire, said: "I have lobbied very hard for this. Such local infrastructure will help our local businesses compete on a global scale."
