Why is our strong nation being ruled by Brussels?
I DON'T know how long Saros Kavina has been a guest in this country but would have thought that it was long enough for him to have obtained a little understanding of our history and culture.
True, our culture has been seriously diluted in recent years but certain truisms remain. We are still a fiercely independent people and many of us know where our true friends are and, apart from possibly the Dutch, the Finns and the Norwegians, they are not in Europe. Our true friends are in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and other former Commonwealth countries.
Where the EU is concerned, we are just a cash-cow to be exploited. An example of this is our contribution to the EU Budget – £11 billion in 2012 and an additional £1.3 billion in 2013.
With the proposed increase, our contribution equates to £22,000 every minute. So, by the time I have typed this letter we will have paid a further £176,000 to Brussels. What do we get in return? Dictatorship, inefficiency, corruption, megalomania, deceit and waste.

Can one of the Europhiles out there tell me how it can be right to spend 500,000 Euros on an EU diplomatic service when every member nation has its own? Then there is the EU External Action Service, whatever that may be, and the extravagant and incompetent EU Commission and European Parliament. These, plus many others, are a black hole for taxpayers' money.
There is a myth that leaving the EU would be detrimental to our trade. I disagree. Last year, Norway exported over twice as much per head to the EU as we did and Switzerland more than four times as much. They are also free to negotiate trade deals with any country in the world while we are restricted by EU Dictate. Recently 'call me Dave' boasted that our exports to Brazil, Russia and China were all significantly up 25%, 80% and 40% respectively. However, during the same period, our exports to the EU fell. So much for EU trade!
We are the seventh largest economy in the world, a leading member of the Commonwealth and Nato, have a permanent seat on the UN Security Council and our language is spoken throughout the world. Why should we be ruled from Brussels?

“Our 'submission' to the EU is contrary to both the spirit of Magna Carta and the legal status of Magna Carta. The Election of UKIP as the governing party in 2015 would serve two purposes. Firstly they can take England out of the EU thus ending the illegal status that the UK government has forced on the English peoples. Secondly they can offer a commonwealth alternative to Scotland and Wales thus giving them independence of governance together with the economic and military safety of being a partner of a free England.”

“I agree with Colin, we are still a strong nation, but unfortunately have a bunch of spineless politicians allowing this country to be run from Brussels. As long as MP's and MEP's are more concerned with their own privileges and pensions etc, than this countries welfare, i can't see any improvement anytime soon.”
