Only support from Labour MPs got this vote through
KATE Smith ("Same-sex marriage vote achievement for Lib Dems", Opinions, February 27) has some brass neck taking any kind of credit for the vote in favour of same-sex marriage! If it hadn't been for the Labour vote, the Lib Dems would have failed.
Check your dictionary, which states that marriage is a union between a man and a woman for the procreation of children. Try that with a gay marriage!
Really, Kate, I shouldn't, if I were you, take credit for anything Lib Dem, considering the trouble your leader is in with regard to the Lord Rennard allegations.

“Christian Marriage: "Christians believe that marriage is a gift from God, one that should not be taken for granted. It is the right atmosphere to engage in sexual relations and to build a family life. Getting married in a church, in front of God, is very important."

Marriage under Islam:
"The natural sexual desire is both strong and significant. Everyone should have a partner for satisfying their sexual needs in a secure and serene environment. Everyone should enjoy sexual satisfaction in a correct and proper manner. Those who abstain from marriage often suffer from both physical and psychological disorders. Such disorders and certain social problems are a direct consequence of the abstinence of youth from marriage.
(3) Reproduction: Through marriage, the procreation of mankind is continued. Children are the result of marriage and are important factors in stabilizing the family foundations as well as a source of real joy to their parents.
A great deal of emphasis has been given in the Holy Qur'an and the traditions to both marriage and having children. The Almighty Allah states in the Holy Qur'an: "And among His signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves." (30:21)"

“On this subject, it is getting to the point where you see the headline of the letter, read the first paragaph and usually know who has written it.”

“I believe, Tony, you should check your own dictionary again before voicing your condemnation. (Or in Biblical terms, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone...")
According to the Oxford English:
noun
1the formal union of a man and a woman, typically as recognized by law, by which they become husband and wife:
she has three children from a previous marriage
[mass noun] the state of being married:
women want equality in marriage
(in some jurisdictions) a union between partners of the same sex.
And again from Mirriam Webster:
a (1) : the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law (2) : the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage (same-sex marriage)
b : the mutual relation of married persons : wedlock
c : the institution whereby individuals are joined in a marriage
In no dictionary does procreation form part of the definition of marriage, and, as you can plainly see, 'the' dictionary (any dictionary) includes same sex-unions in their definition.”
