Nacer Barazite is Rams' target
DERBY County are making a move for one of Arsenal's bright
young stars.
-

WANTED: Arsenal midfield man Nacer Barazite is a target for Derby County boss Paul Jewell (below).
They are looking to bring in Dutch midfielder Nacer Barazite
on loan.
Paul Jewell feels the midfield department needs bolstering
and he is also taking a look at Julien Sable who plays for
French club RC Lens.
"We've got good competition up front, at the back and in the
wide areas but we are light on competition in midfield," Jewell
said on Friday.
Barazite was one of the many success stories in Arsenal's
reserve and Academy campaigns last season.
The 18-year-old also made two appearances for the first
team, both as a substitute in the Carling Cup victories over
Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers.
An under-19 international for Holland, he played and scored
for an Arsenal XI in pre-season wins at Barnet and Rushden
& Diamonds and can fill a number of positions across the
midfield.
Derby took Arturo Lupoli on a season-long loan from the
Gunners two seasons ago and his goals played a part in the
promotion campaign. The Italian striker hit 11 in 39
appearances, 20 of them starts.
Sable, born in Marseille, is a defensive midfielder.
He spent 10 seasons at St Etienne where he played more than
300 games before joining Lens a year ago. He played 14 times
last season including four appearances in the early rounds of
the UEFA Cup.
Blackburn Rovers have also shown an interest in the
27-year-old.
Jewell wants more competition in central midfield where Paul
Green, Robbie Savage and Polish international Przemyslaw
Kazmierczak are the three fighting for two places.
Green has started all three games and Kazmierczak, on a
season-long loan from FC Porto, partnered him in the
opening-day defeat by Doncaster Rovers.
Savage replaced Kazmierczak in the Carling Cup tie against
Lincoln City and kept his place in Saturday's televised
Championship fixture at Bristol City.

“The Danish buy who used to play for Celtic is currently without a contract, Tomas Gravesan, why not try a move for him, he's looking for a club? He's a class act and not very popular elsewhere. Every other successful club ties up 1 or 2 star players to make the difference, we didn't last season and look what happened.”

“I see good players and others with potential being brought in, this manager will deliver, hopefully not too soon as we have all learned to our cost. Let PJ do his job and we will be a force again, we are still miles ahead of our neighbours down the A52 and all I can hear from some is negativity. Balanced arguments are fine but constant attacks on the management from certain individuals are getting boring, bring on the rest of the season!”

“Chad - I dont understand why you think he is not "at our disposal"? He is on loan at Huddersfield for 1 month to gain a bit of sharpness, confidence and experience - if injuries dictate we need him back, we can cancell the arrangement with the Terriers. Wheres this obsession with Ferrie Bodde come from chad? Its not that long ago when you were refering to him as the dutch clogger with your "woodland" mates.”

“It seems to me we have contributors on here who would sack the managers who get runners up each season because they didn't win the league, I assume they prefer instant mash because they can't wait for the real thing, I bet they open their presents on Christmas Eve - and I guarantee they complain about the contents - too small, wrong colour etc etc”

“Chad maybe he has a recall clause in his loan who knows. It appears that jewell is going with ellington/hulse/villa at present. But hey if dicko starts banging them in after a month he could force his way in?But in the meantime we have covered some of the cost .”

“Jewell has himself stated that Dickinson's low on confidence and I doubt loaning him out for a month is generating that much cash, he'll be lucky if he gets 5% of what we paid for him.
Iam am all in favour of loaning out youngsters to get experience ie Beardsley etc but not one that we've spent nearly a mill on, panic buying does spring to mind when you think of what has happened to Dicko, you can say its only for a month but he hasnt even been given match time to try and prove himself, hopefully I am wrong and he'll benefit from this loan spell at the terriers and comes back and starts for us and scores but I doubt it.”

“tanglehead and ramboo, you dont spend a large amont of your transfer kitty and then not play him, teams that struggle like we are at the moment need all our resorces to hand, we are not in a position to outlay large amounts to be sat there, dickinson may be the size of a house but he wont go up in valuue if he int playing at a high level of football, jewel has made a mistake in him and the 750k or whatever it is would have been better going to the purchase of bodde and having a player capeable of making the team and competition with in the team better, unless you mean he is one for the future by way of playing in league1 when we get relegated that is”

“I have just read all 29 comments to date and as usual we have some fine and thoughful contributors along side utter and biased dross.I am not a football coach - never got much beyond playing for the district side at schoolboy level - so I am not an expert at deciding a reasonable period for 'geling'. That is an admission that half the time I do not know what I am talking about in the context of football. On the one hand we have professionals hinting that up to a year to gel is realistic, and on the other hand, there are people who think that a pre season, plus a couple of months, ought to be enough. It is true that football is more like chess these days and far removed from the time when you simply ignored the Derby half back line by lobbing over them [Boston United F A Cup 1955]. May be a season of geling and team building is more realistic. So I am sorry lads - I have modified my stance and therefore humble pie, washed down with Fair Trade is in order.”

“rammie you stated that st etienne were for 6 years while sable was there a top european team, you failed to say that st etienne got relegated twice in the 10 years he was there and generally won as much as the clown we have here, and while you mention liverpool they did win the european cup and came runners up a few years ago, i think that in anyones book makes them contenders for a top european team, so comparing st etienne to liverpool like you did is an embarassment, another jewel anallogy i presume, where have i said anything about sable being a player we shouldnt sign like you seem to be suggeting?”
